Life Update

Not too much to update right now. The big thing this week is getting ready for Gabe's baby blessing, which is this Sunday. We've got a lot to do to prepare. Not looking forward to it by any means. Since Mormons usually bless their babies about two or three months, we're doing it a bit late. With him being so colicky I didn't want him screaming his lungs out! Plus I was nowhere ready to bless him with my incision infection, post-partum depression, and getting into the flow of parenthood! Our home isn't quite kid-prood yet since Gabe still isn't mobile, so we've got some rearranging to do, as well as cleaning and food preparing!
But one more milestone to add, Gabe made it through sacrament meeting without crying or fussing even once! Talk about huge. I figure if we can get a few weeks of that maybe we'll try out Sunday School!

We also enjoyed a wonderful Sunday night with Archie's brother Ty and his wife Cristi and their two boys! They made us steaks, baked potatoes, and green salad! Then it was on to games! We kept Gabe up for a bit too long, but he's making up for it as I write!

And I'm still trying to work on school, which is still pretty tricky. Archie is still doing well at work. They'd sink without him!

Well, that's about it in our lives!

Archie's First Father's Day

We didn't actually take any pictures on Father's Day. But I thought I'd let Archie know that he's a wonderful father! He usually takes Gabe at night if he awakens. He is always willing to play with him, feed him, burp him, and we both sing him to bed at night. He even changes his poopy diapers with hardly any complaint! He is usually the one to give him his baths at night as well! He's super Dad! I love him very much and glad that he's the father of my child!

Here are some cute pics of Gabe in his pirate bib from his Auntie Lisa!

He's such a precious little angel! We love you, Gabe!

45 Lessons of Life

Written by

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first check.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up your present.

12 It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye, but don't worry. God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you, no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take "no" for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare and then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words, "In five years, will this matter?"

26. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone, everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself too seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children only get one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved and were loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all that you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.

44. Yield

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a "gift".

I saw this on another blog, so I hope she doesn't mind me using it as well! Thanks Kim! I think these are some good goals to work on for me and I hope you find them useful as well!

Happy Birthday To Me!

I turned the big 2-9 on Friday. Pretty crazy. My first birthday as a mom, so that was fun! Little Boog helped celebrate all day long! I went to Target and got something for myself while the lights went out there for about five minutes! I was afraid looting would start to ensue if things didn't change...but alas, the lights came back and all was well with the world.

Archie got me a few books and....a Wii! We saved up and got it. They're finally available without waiting in long lines or getting up extremely early to buy them. It's kind of like all I'm going to get for the next five birthdays! So it's worth it. When Archie got home from work we headed out to Emmett's and Ethel's for some dinner! Super yummy. But they were all out of scones, so we got a milkshake instead!

Saturday my sister DeAnn agreed to babysit Gabe while Archie and I headed out to do some birthday celebrating! We watched the movie "Up" in 3-D! So good, I loved this movie! Then we got completely rained upon with hurricane winds and rain! The drains were overflowing there was so much water. The weather has been so crazy out here in Utah...lots of thunder storms...I hear an island volcano erupted and has thrown off our weather patterns. It was pretty fun to drive in...OK, I wasn't driving, but I had fun! We finally made it to the Cheesecake Factory! Such a yummy treat! I got shrimp and chicken pasta Jambalaya. Never had it before; it was good, but I probably won't get it again. Archie got his all-time favorite Cashew chicken and rice! We also got guacamole made-to-order! Super yummy and Archie got some buffalo wings. We went all out and got lots of food to take home, and of course, cheesecake for dessert! We shared Adam's Peanut Butter Cup! Super delicioso!
And we also got Gabe his blessing outfit! So cute! Then it was off to pick Gabe up and head for home! What a great birthday!
We also got him a new exercise play mat!

Wolfy also likes it very much!

Gabe does not enjoy his burp cloth on his head!

But Wolfy loves his new brother!

Gabe's Four Month Check-up

My little guy has just turned four months old. I can't even believe it! It seems like he should be six months! hee hee! His doctor said he's starting to teethe now...thus all the drool and excessive chewing on his hands! He's 14.5 pounds, 25 1/2 inches, and his head 43 cm! For weight that's in the 38 percentile, height 72, and head is 70! So his head and his height is growing big, just not his weight! Which I'm OK with...this is probably the healthiest he'll eat in his lifetime! hee hee. He's not a big eater yet, but I'm sure he'll get there once he doesn't have to eat icky formula!

But he also got his vaccinations today as well. Poor little guy. This is not his happiest day, that's for sure. I gave him lots of Tylenol and put him down for a nice long nap and he's been feeling a bit better. Oh, the evil necessity of vaccinations!

Some Fun Pics!

We had a fun week! Here some pics to prove it!
I got together with my friend Nancy and her baby Eva on Wednesday! They played together for a very short time on the play mat!

Here's Gabe and Archie! Archie's very smiley, but we couldn't get Gabe to do it for the camera.

Here are a couple of smiley shots of him in his walker!

Sunday we headed up to my friend Claire's baby's blessing. They're about two months apart so some people didn't quite know which baby it was that was blessed!
Here's Gabe again with sweet Eva! Gabe has the biggest head in the world!
He loves chewing on his hands and Eeyore!

Fun Times With Kitties and Eeyore

Here's a picture post from this weekend!

The Five Love Languages

Someone recently asked me what mine and my husband's love languages were and that if we didn't know we should get the book The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. Well, we actually bought that book a few years ago and read it together. We wanted to keep the love going in our marriage and decided to find out what our love languages were so we could fill up each other's love banks!!! And thus keep love alive in our marriage! Granted, we need to read it and remember probably at least once a year...But anyway, my primary love language is quality time followed by physical touch. Archie's are words of affirmation and acts of service.

So we try and keep up on our love banks, sometimes we forget, but it's good to be reminded! It's a great book! Give it a try if you haven't yet!
